Keetz shows you events happening around you. This page explains what information the Keetz app and the keetz.app website collect, what it is used for, and how you can see or delete it.
Who is responsible
The operator's name and postal address will be published here before Keetz is released.

What we collect
If you only browse
- The area you look at. To show events on the map, the app and website send the map's position to our server. This is not stored with any identity.
- Technical logs. Our server records requests (IP address, time, page) for security and troubleshooting.
- An anonymous daily count (app only). Once a day the app tells our server "this install was opened today", using a random ID the app makes for itself. The ID is not linked to your account, your name or your location; we use it only to count how many installs come back. Reinstalling the app creates a new ID.
- Reports. If you report an event or an organizer, we store what you reported, the reason and any note you add (and your account, if you are logged in) so a person can review it.
If you create an account
- Account details: email address, username, and optionally your first and last name. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash.
- Google sign-in: if you continue with Google, we receive your Google account's ID, email address and name. We do not receive your Google password or contacts.
- Interests: the event categories you pick.
- Events you are going to: your RSVPs. The organizer of an event can see who is going to it; nobody else can.
- Organizers you hide: if you choose "Hide this organizer", we store that choice so their posts are left out for you.
- Your last location and timezone (app only): while the app is open it sends your position so we can tell you about events near you in the evening digest. We keep only the most recent position, not a history. The app does not track your location in the background.
- Notification token (app only): an identifier that lets us send push notifications to your device, if you allow them.
If you are an organizer
- The events you post (name, description, time, venue, images) and your public organizer profile are visible to everyone.
What we use it for
- Showing events near the place you are looking at.
- Keeping you logged in and remembering your interests and RSVPs.
- Sending the notifications you have allowed: an evening digest of events near you, changes to events you are going to, offers from places near an event you are going to around the time it ends, and alerts for organizers.
- Showing organizers how many people viewed or are going to their events (as totals, plus the list of people who RSVP'd to their own events).
- Keeping the service secure and preventing abuse.
We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.
Who else is involved
- Hosting: our server is hosted by Hetzner in Germany.
- Google Maps and Places (maps in the app and on this website, and place search): Google receives the map area and search text. On this website the maps load only after you allow Google services.
- Google Sign-In, if you choose it.
- Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service: used to deliver push notifications.
- Sentry (crash reports): when the app or our server hits an error, a report with the error, the device model and system version is sent to Sentry. It contains no name, email address or location.
How long we keep it
- Your account and what belongs to it: until you delete it.
- Your last known position: cleared after 30 days without an update.
- Records of which offers were pushed to you: 30 days.
- The anonymous daily count: 180 days.
- Reports: until reviewed, then 1 year.
- Backups: 14 days.
- Server logs: a limited amount; the oldest entries are deleted first.
Deletion happens automatically every night.
Cookies and Google services on this website
This website sets only the cookies it needs to work: one that keeps you logged in and one that protects forms. It serves its own fonts and runs its own spam checks. Google Maps loads only if you allow it ("Show the map"); you can change that choice with "Privacy choices" at the bottom of every page. "Continue with Google" loads Google's sign-in on the login and sign-up pages.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time from Profile, in the app or on this website. This removes your account, interests, RSVPs and notification tokens.
- Turn off location or notifications in your phone's settings; Keetz keeps working for browsing.
- Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, to object to its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. Email us to use any of these rights.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app or on this page before the change takes effect.
